Gurkha Peace Foundation
The Gurkhas who have become British citizens are in the process of setting up a charitable foundation that has four main objectives. Those Nepalese who are seeking citizenship through the Gurkha Justice Campaign are also supporting this venture.
These objectives are:
1/ To create a cultural centre close to where many of them have settled enabling them to facilitate their integration into their new community and promote activities and various causes.
2/ Provide education for the poorest children in Nepal.
3/ Publicise the conditions of all those who have suffered in war with a coordinated approach with others concerned with the plight of victims throughout the world. The hope would be for an upbeat concept of reconciliation and an exchange of ideas for best practise.
4/ Build support for the principles laid down by the United Nations Charter and strengthen the pragmatic approach to peace making with dialogue with those pursuing similar objectives.
Remembering that friendship should precede charity and that trade is better than aid, Nepalese Gurkhas are keen to promote themselves not just as soldiers but also as peacemakers wishing to build a better world. They realise that the main thrust for this will come from their own community but their core philosophy is always to contribute more than they take and to uphold many of the principles of Gandhi.

Valley Vipers
Valley vipers was originally set up and run by Pent valley school during break times, it was then run on a Sunday morning for a few months.
In April 2007 a committee was formed by a number of the players and parents so that the club could continue running.
Since then we have managed to raise or secure funding to buy our own wheelchairs, kit, balls and a number of other items.
The club continues to go from strength to strength, although we have seen players come and go we do have a hardcore of players who have been with us from the start, we have also seen some of our players go on to play in the league for other teams.
We are a non league team and plan to stay that way so that we exclude no-one regardless of age or ability. Our main aim is for our players to learn the rules of the game and have fun and enjoy themselves along the way and hopefully make some good friendships.
Everyone is welcome and we always look forward to meeting new players.
