Ashford Liberal Democrats have launched their latest local Axe the Tax campaign.

The event, part of the Liberal Democrat national campaign to scrap the Council Tax, was launched during the annual "Wings and Things" event at Woodchurch.

Ashford Liberal Democrats Parliamentary spokesman, Chris Took, told a receptive crowd "Today, we are all determined to send a clear message to this government. Council Tax is the single most unfair form of taxation since the window tax of yesteryear."

Chris, who also adopted a head chef role for the BBQ, added "A local income tax is clearly the fairest way to ensure equality across the board. The continuation of this Tory tax under the Labour government shows how deeply buried in the sand the heads of this government are."
