The 700 new dwellings of the Goats Lees development are nearly complete; yet our newest and youngest residents will now be travelling afar for their 'local' education as promises for a school within the development have now been shelved.

"We need to build up a sense of community not a sense of car journeys" said Liberal Democrat Councillor Rita Hawes.

The Goats Lees development is one of a number populating the constituency and other parts of the South East. The Liberal Democrats nationally have long campaigned for the provision of local services BEFORE the continued development of houses.

"I will be raising these concerns with Charles Kennedy himself" added local campaigner Chris Took "hopefully Charles can have a word in John Prescott's ear. The deputy Prime Minister seems unaware of the damage his disjointed development proposals are having locally."
