Local resident and rail campaigner Geoff English has spoken out against current plans to slash the train services at Pluckley station following a heated public meeting.

The latest news from the Strategic Rail Authority means Pluckley could lose all services to and from Canon Street from 2007 whilst also seeing services to Charing Cross halved.

"Considering the extensive housing development in and around Ashford the proposed cuts are extremely short sighted" said Geoff, a leading activist within the Pluckley Station Action Group (PSAG).

By working with Friends of Pluckley Station (FOPS) Geoff is working hard both for continued services and also to improve the station environment and appearance.

"The strength of public support is huge, once again we see the government telling locals that they know better but through the PSAG we will get our voices heard." added Geoff.
